BANGKOK, Thailand — Despite a setback on points to Thai former WBC Muay Thai World Champion Namchai Dilokpraphuek, Filipino bantamweight Remark "Lucky Boy" Alicaba celebrated with a dinner outing with his coach, teammates, and friends in Thailand on Wednesday.
That’s because for the 25-year-old "Lucky Boy" Alicaba (9-8, 7 KOs), friendship, and team spirit are just as important as boxing.
Alicaba lost a hard-fought ten-round unanimous decision against unbeaten Namchai Dilokpraphuek (5-0, 2 KOs) for the ABF (Asian Boxing Federation) Bantamweight Belt at the Rangsit Boxing Stadium on Wednesday, August 27, live on Thailand’s True4U Channel.
Although Alicaba dominated the former Muay Thai World champion in a few rounds, his visit to the canvas in the 5th chapter tipped the scorecards in favor of the fearsome Thai warrior promoted by Phetchyindee Boxing.
That’s alright, because after the battle, Alicaba's coach and teammates from Highland Boxing Gym treated “Lucky Boy” to a delicious Thai buffet dinner!
In high spirits, the tall "Lucky Boy" born in Digos enjoyed yummy food and lively conversation for hours.
His coach, former boxer Jayvee Alipio, couldn't be prouder of his protégé.
"He has the heart of a lion. We're all proud of Reymark. It's a pleasure being his coach."
(L-R) Featherweight Ivan Ognayon (3-0-1, 3 KOs), "Lucky Boy" Reymark Alicaba (9-8, 7 KOs) of La Union, coach Jayvee Alipio of Bataan, Highland Boxing promoter Brico Santig of Benguet, Light Flyweight Alvin Dologuin (1-3-1, 1KO) of Zamboanga, coach Allanjohn Alegria of Davao, and Philboxing's Carlos Costa of Cebu.
Congratulations to Reymark for his display of courage and strength in Kingdom of Thailand. You make us proud. 🇵🇭
May God bless you and your beautiful spirit.
