THE much-awaited 3rd Davao City Athletics Open will be held on August 9 and 10 at the University of Mindanao Matina Campus in Maa, Davao City.

“There will be categories in the Seniors, 18 Under and 13 under,” said Davao City Track and Field Association [DCTAFA] president Kenneth Sai.

Last year’s champion Philippine Air Force will not be seeing action.

“Busy siguro sila [They must be busy],” said Sai.

But teams from Mindanao and Visayas are still expected to play.

One of the top favorites is the Spectrum Runners.

It is part of the Kadayawan Sports Festival and it is presented by UM and AmFm Productions.

Wild FM, Retro, Mindanao Times and DXUM are the media partners.

Meanwhile, at least 100 participants joined the two-day DCTAFA Refresher Course for Technical Officials in Athletics held last July 25 and 26 at the University of Southeastern Philippines Gymnasium and University of Mindanao Track Oval.

World Athletics Referee and Level 2 Coach.

Jesus Tubog Jr. facilitated the course.

“We’re raising the standards of athletics officiating in Davao!” said Sai.
