Filipino boxing legend Manny Pacquiao has arrived in Los Angeles, California, setting the stage for an official announcement regarding his return to the ring. The 46-year-old is expected to confirm his upcoming fight against WBC welterweight champion Mario Barrios.
Pacquiao, accompanied by his team, including his trainer Buboy Fernandez and wife Jinkee, landed in Los Angeles on Sunday, (Monday in Manila). He is scheduled to hold a press conference this week to formally announce his comeback and challenge Barrios for the title.
Following the press conference, Pacquiao will begin his training camp at the Wild Card Boxing Gym in Hollywood. After the Los Angeles presser, Pacquiao will reportedly head back to the Philippines but will return shortly to the United States for his scheduled induction to the International Boxing Hall of Fame in Canastota, New York in early June. After his Hall of Fame induction, Pacquiao is expected to remain in the US to train for the Barrios fight in July in Las Vegas.
The fight is anticipated to take place in Las Vegas in July, though the specific venue has not yet been disclosed.
Pacquiao, who lost his senatorial race in the Philippines, is returning to boxing after a four-year retirement. His last fight was in August 2021, where he lost to Yordenis Ugas. This comeback coincides with his induction into the International Boxing Hall of Fame in June, marking a significant period in his illustrious career.
