
Castellano, Faeldonia, Casiguran banner tough field in 6th AQ Prime Standard Open Chess Tournament

FIDE Master Christopher Castellano, National Masters Jasper Faeldonia and Phil Martin Casiguran expect rough sailing in the 6th AQ Prime Standard Open Chess Tournament where they will be meeting a tough line of competitors on Saturday, March 29, 2025 at the Mall Atrium, SM City Masinag, Antipolo City.
The two-day (Saturday and Sunday) standard event (60 minutes with 30 seconds increment time control format), backed by AQ Prime CEO Atty. Aldwin Alegre, offers P10,000 to the champion.
Tournament director is IA / FM / FT Rudy Ibanez while Chief Arbiter is FA / NI Francis Ramos and assisted by Deputy Chief Arbiter NA Ellfred Chessander Chay.
“It will be a very tough match against the Metro Manila players. Not to be outdone are players from Rizal as well nearby provinces,” said Castellano, a University of the Philippines (UP) Diliman conservatory of Music tenor graduate.
“We are expecting tough matches but we will try our best,” said Faeldonia.
Other woodpushers joining the competition are FIDE Master Antonio Molina, Jeremy Marticio, Billy Joe Ereno, King Alexander Osena, Rosauro Caunti, Givy Bartolome, Emmanuel Barbosa, Gabriel James Cartel, Jerico Santiaguel and John Andrew Garcia.-Marlon Bernardino-
