Fonteneaux Tapped to Lead Youth and Junior Programs for USA Boxing

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (February 19, 2025) -- Edward Fonteneaux (Fayettevill, N.C.) has been named the USA Boxing National Junior & Youth Coach, effective immediately, USA Boxing Announced on Wednesday.

“We are excited to have current coach education clinician Edward Fonteneaux join our coaching team with responsibility for Junior and Youth squads,” said USA Boxing National Team Head Coach Billy Walsh. “Font has also been a volunteer Pool Coach for the past number of years. We look forward to working with Font to develop the next generation of USA Boxing talent.”

Coach Fonteneaux, or “Coach Font” as he is known within the USA Boxing program, brings over 12 years of coaching experience including three years of assisting with USA Boxing High Performance. Font is the head coach at Fonteneaux Boxing Academy (FBA) in Fayetteville, N.C., and has had a wealth of opportunities to coach Team USA abroad.

“I would like to thank the High Performance Director, National Head Coach, National Residence Coach and the High Performance staff for such a wonderful opportunity,” Fonteneaux proclaimed.

“I am excited about this next journey with the High Performance staff and understand ‘to whom much is given, much is required.’”

The National Junior and Youth Coach is responsible for managing the development and performance of USA Boxing’s Junior and Youth national teams. Fonteneaux will take the reins for the Junior and Youth programs of USA Boxing and play a pivotal role in developing future Olympic hopefuls for the organization’s High Performance teams.
