MICHAEL Casama of President Roxas will challenge Kenji Fujita of Japan for the WBO Asian Pacific featherweight title on January 18 at the Korakuen Hall in Tokyo.

The 24-year-old Casama [10-2-1, 10KOs] is currently training at Sanman Boxing Gym in General Santos City.

“My training continues because my fight is near,” said Casama.

Casama is sparring now with former IBF World super bantamweight champion Marlon “Nightmare” Tapales of Lanaom del Norte.

“I didn't get my team weight yet,” said Casama, who is trained by former boxer Markquil Salvaña.

He recently won by a technical knockout over Kota Kaneko of Japan in the 1st round last July 6 at Korakuen Hall.

But Casama earlier lost his first fight in Japan against Junya Shimada by a TKO in the 5th round last March 2 at Korakuen.

Fujita, 30 [7-0-0, 3KOs] has recently retained his WBO Asia Pacific featherweight title by beating Rodex Piala of Cebu by a unanimous decision last June 1 at Korakuen.

Akihiko Honda of Teiken Promotions is the promoter.
