DAVAO City jiu jitsu Coach Marc Alexander Lim said that experience from a competition is very important for an athlete.

“There were things we were not able to execute, but it just takes a little bit more experience, experience which they gain from competitions like these,” said Lim, a SEA Games gold medalist.

Lim said that he is “super proud of the kids” that recently saw action in the Batang Pinoy 2024 in Palawan.

The DC jiu jitsu team bagged six medals - Ethan Aranez [gold, male teens 56-kilograms], Julial Than Pineda [silver, under -69kg], Kristofer Velasco [silver, 62kg], Judd Hero Tancontian [bronze, male juveniles -73kg], Gabriel Igasenza [bronze, Male Juveniles -55kg] and Jewel Empleo [bronze, Juveniles -52kg].

Lim said that “they worked very hard for this and they showed themselves the value of hard work.”

Lim said “the team executed a lot of what we worked on which was rewarding to see.”

“This is a good result for a start and we showed that we belong. This is only the beginning,” said Lim.
