Former unified light welterweight world champion Amir Khan has announced that he has accepted an offer to fight Manny Pacquiao in an exhibition bout. Now 37-years old, Khan quit boxing in 2022 after suffering a sixth-round TKO defeat to compatriot Kell Brook.

The British fighter has repeatedly flirted with a comeback in the crossover boxing scene. There was a plan of him facing YouTuber-turned-boxers Slim Albaher and KSI but none of those proposals were realized. Now, he has set his sight on a clash with eight-division world champion Pacquiao.

In 2022, Pacquiao won over martial artist DK Yoo on points in a dominating fashion but he looked like father time caught him in his most recent exhibition against kickboxer Rukiya Anpo last July.

The fight was declared an automatic draw, even if Pacquiao's performance was just a shadow of his old self and fans began to exhort for his retirement. But that did not discourage an unnamed country from offering an enormous purse of money to promote a fight between Khan and Pacquiao.

“The next one we’re looking at is in the boxing ring and it is with the likes of Manny Pacquiao, so that’s what we are looking at and the country that’s backing it is very, very powerful," Khan told Prime Casino.

"The fans want it, now the ball is in Manny’s court if he wants to do it, and I know there’s a lot going on in his life as he’s in politics. It’s just a waiting game. This happens a lot in boxing and then you both end up getting bored of it."
