PEDRO “Kid Pedro Heneral” Taduran of Albay reclaimed his IBF World minimumweight title last night, July 28 at the Shiga Daihatsu Arena in Otsu, Japan.

The 27-year-old Taduran stopped defending champion Ginjiro Shigeoka of Japan by a 9th round via technical knockout.

Taduran now has 17 wins with 13 knockouts against four loses and one draw while 24-year-old Shigeoka suffered his first loss against 11 wins with nine knockouts.

Taduran first won the vacant IBF World minimumweight title by retiring Samuel Salva of Gingoog City in the 4th round last September 7, 2019 in Taguig City.

He then settled a technical draw with Daniel Valladares of Mexico in his first title defense last February 1, 2029 in Guadalupe, Mexico.

But Taduran suffered two defeats against Rene Mark Cuarto of Zamboanga del Norte.

Taduran first lost by a unanimous decision to Cuarto last February 27, 2021 in General Santos City.

He also lost by a technical decision in the 7th round after Taduran suffered a cut on his forehead caused by an accidental head butt in Round 6.

Taduran was also downed once in Round 2 and 6. But Cuarto was deducted two points in Round 3 for an intentional head butt.
