BUSINESSMAN Ernesto “Ernie” Ortonio Jr. is the new president of the Davao Regional Football Association [DRFA] for 2024 to 2028 last July 6 at the Happy Home Diner and Café in Torres Street, Davao City.

The 72-year-old Ortonio bested Erwin Protacio of UP Mindanao in a close fight, 12-10 for the presidency.

Ortonio was a former Board Member of the Davao Football Association [DFA] headed by the late Victorio “Vic” Sai.

The group was formerly known as DFA before it was later named as DRFA.

Ortonio, a former goalkeeper in Bacolod City, is also currently the president of the PNX-Udenna Insurance Brokers, Inc.

Ortonio formerly had a group called the Davao Football Management Association, which had a publication before, First Eleven.

Meanwhile, Rex Rodriguez of Hyenas Football Club was chosen as the vice-president.

Elected as members are Joyce Rendon, Alex Adolfo, Ramon Beleno, Carlos Labadora, Gerry Zanoria, Ching Delos Reyes, Murphy Somosot and Danny Boy Fernandez.

The battle for the Female Representative between Roxan Colina against Keith Shelly Canton, however, was still not over as it was still a draw after two counts.
