Dy tops DCHS chessfest

MARK Samuel Dy ruled the Davao Christian High School-CPG Summer Chess Clinic last June 20 at the DCHS CPG campus.

Dy, a Grade 8 student tallied 5.0 points to beat 13 other players.

Francis Gabriel Jalapon finished second with 3.5 points followed by three others with identical 3.0 points – Lyle Mattheusz Tanan, Kyrie Irvin Perez and Ryan Sid Fajardo.

Tanan, a Grade 2 pupil got the better quotient to earn third place.

The other players were Kyle Ryan Taripe, Andrei Clarence Zhang, Angela Heart Yutig, Lucas Mikael Laforteza, Reuben Jon Fajardo, Asher Haron Yutig, Juliana Ava Te, Ethan Azriel Raquel and Knox Woohjin Petes.

NA Cecilio Acas was the tournament director while NA Alfred Moulic was the chief arbiter.

Meanwhile, a chess summer sports clinic was first conducted last June 10, 11 and 13 before the tournament was held June 19-20.
