COMEBACKING “Prince” Albert Pagara scored a majority decision against Chinese Aketelieti Yelejian to win as the new International Boxing Federation Asia lightweight champion last June 15, Saturday at the City of Passi Arena in Passi, Iloilo.

The 30-year-old Pagara landed more powerful punches than the Chinese pug to get scores of 96-94 from judges Gil Co and Edward Ligas. Judge Aquil Tamano scored it 95-95 even.

Pagara, who is now handled by Darwin Miller Dep-ay, now has 35 wins with 24 knockouts against one loss and no draw while Yelejian suffered his fourth loss against 8 wins and 1 draw.

Pagara had to stop fighting in 2020 due to the pandemic and returned to action in November 2022.

In his comeback bid, Pagara stopped Alan Villanueva in the 4th round last November 5, 2022 in Talisay City.

Meanwhile, undefeated minimumweight John Kevin Jimenez of Cebu won by a unanimous decision against Jeven Villacite of Butuan City in the main supporting card.

Lorenzo Sy of Sportscope Ltd. was the promoter.
