In a tough, close fight, popular “Prince” Albert Pagara (35-1, 24 KO’s) from Maasin, Southern Leyte, edged strong 25-year-old Chinese fighter Aketelieti Yelejian (8-4-1, 2 KO’s) via 10-round majority decision to claim the vacant IBF ASIA Lightweight Belt Saturday, June 15, at Passi City in Iloilo, Philippines.

Official Scores were 96-94 (twice), and 95-95 to seal Pagara’s title victory.

This is the same thrilling weight-class of exciting champions Gervonta Davis, Shakur Stevenson and Vasiliy Lomachenko. Could Albert Pagara one day challenge one of them?

In the same event, unbeaten John Kevin Jimenez 8-0, 3 KO’s) of Cebu decisioned Jeven Vellacite of Butuan; and undefeated Digos City power-puncher prospect Roderick Bautista (6-0, 5 KO’s) stopped in six Cebuano Jemuel Arañas.
