1ST LEG: Dimzon registers hard-earned win against Sinsuat

DAVAO CITY – Francis Jayvee Dimson of Maragusan scored a hard-earned victory over top-seed Daneea Sinsuat of Cotabato in three sets to win the Unisex 10 in the 1st Leg of the 2024 Summer Junior Tennis Tournament Satellite Circuit which ended last June 9 in Digos City.

The 9-year-old Dimson took the first set, 7-5 but Sinsuat bounced back by winning the second set, 5-7.

The thriller never ended with changing lead until Dimson finally grab the victory, 10-8.

“Sinsuat really has to beat Dimson yet,” said tournament director Juanito “Titong” Cansino.

The 8-year old Sinsuat, however, ruled the Under 12 Girls division by trouncing Yzaun Chandra, 7-5, 7-5.

Meanwhile, Stephen Fuertes of Sta. Cruz, Davao del Sur won two titles by dominating the boys 25 and 18 divisions.

Fuertes crushed Maragusan’s Bench Neri, 6-3, 4-3 [retirement] in the under 25. He also beat Shaun Apollo Globasa, 6-1, 6-1 in under 18 finals.

The 1st Left was sponsored by Cong. John Tracy Fortich Cagas and Mayor Josef Fortich Cagas.

The second leg will be held in Tagum City on June 11-15.

25 girls – Chelsea Bernaldez of Tagum def. Digos’ Camille Jhed Clar, 6-1, 6-2

18 girls – Chelsea Bernaldez def. Aika Salahuddin, 6-3, 6-3

16 boys – S.A. Globasa def. Charles Gallo, 6-4, 7-5

16 girls – Princess Dyan Placa def. Rhea Jean Palac, 6-2, 6-2

14 boys – Krelz Jan Gecosala def. Dexter Salcedo, 6-4, 6-3

14 girls – Princess Dyan Placa def. Rhea Jean Palac, 6-4, 6-1

12 boys – Kresthan Belacas def. Francis Daniel Florida, 6-2, 8-6.
