THE Sanman Sports Foundation will be helping the Samal Island Paddlers Association [SIPA] to see action in the coming first Bugsay Balangay National Dragon Boat competition on May 11-13 at the Butuan Park and Marina Development in Butuan City.

“The Sanman Sports Foundation of Samal under Arman Sañano expressed their intent to help SIPA since its good office is known to support sports especially at the grassroots level,” said SIPA dragon boat coach Rogie Ferrer at the weekly DSA Forum.

Also present was SIPA team manager Gary Villabrille.

Forty players both Open and Mixed will compete from ages 13 to 24 years old.

“The team is still in need of sponsors on transportation, accommodation, entry fee and food allowance for their campaign stint,” said Ferrer.

SIPA is known for successful title wins in both national and international competitions.

The Samal Dragons are also invited to join the World Dragonboat Championships 18-Under Division set this November in Palawan. (with a report from Jon Develos)
