
Palaro-bound chess teams in action in Warden tourney

THE Palarong Pambansa-bound chess teams are playing tomorrow, April 13, Saturday in the 2nd JSupt. Ericley Louise D. Lazaro Warden’s Open Rapid Chess tournament at the SM City Davao in Ecoland Drive, Davao City.
The double gold medalist Hannah Segara [elementary girls] of Davao City will play in 19 Under Division and most of them are seeing action in the Open division.
They are the Standard boy’s gold medalist Mhyl Crese Wayne Patrimonio of Digos City, AFM Andrei Ainsley Dolorosa [Davao City], standard elementary boy’s gold medalist Ralz Jaweh Devibar [Samal], SEB silver medalist Aaron Aton [DC], bronze medalist team event Namael Naetan Tapare [DC], silver medalist team event Ignatious Zabdell dela Cruz [Digos], bronze medalist Rafael Diga [Davao del Sur]
Patrimonio and Dolorosa were tied with 5.5 points in the Secondary Boy’s Standard competition. However, Patrimonio won in a tie-break for the gold medal while Dolorosa settled for the silver.
Bronze medalist Joriel James Yap of Samal and the double gold medalist Hannah Segara [elementary girls] of Davao City will both see action in the 19 Under Division.
The top-ranked in the Open Division is International Master Oliver Dimakiling of Davao City while the other rated players are Jayson Salubre and NM Henry Roger Lopez [Panabo City], NM Aglipay Oberio, NM Macacuna Macala, FM Austin Jacob Literatus, AGM Irwin Aton and AGM Andre Miguel Jorgio [Davao City], AGM Mohamad Sacar [Carmen], NM Joey Albert Floriendo and NM John Cyrus Borce [Zamboanga], Johnnel Balquin [Gen. Santos City] and NM Keith Adriane Ilar Misamis Oriental].
The champion in the Open will receive P30,000, 2nd placer P15,000, 3rd placer P10,000, 4th placer P7,000, 5th placer P5,000, 6th to 10th placers with P1,000 each. Trophies will also be given away.
