UNDEFEATED Criztian Pitt “Golden Boy” Laurente of General Santos City is back in amateur boxing and is scheduled to join the qualification for the Paris Olympics.

The 24-year-old Laurente is now set to leave the country and join his team for a tune-up match in the USA.

He will join Tokyo Games silver medalist Carlo Paalam, 2016 Rio boxer Rogen Ladon and multi-combat athlete Hergie Bacyadan.

They are set to participate in the Olympic Qualifying Tournament on May 23 until June 3 in Bangkok, Thailand.

Laurente earned that right to join the team after beating Ashley Fajardo in their box off with a score of 4-1,

“I'm proud of my son because last week he defeated Ashley Fajardo, who is a Philippine team in there boxed off,” said Cristino “Titing” Laurente, father and pro coach of Laurente.

Laurente, who is a super featherweight, has a record of 12 wins with seven knockouts and no defeat or draw.

In his last fight as a pro, Laurente demolished Munkhdaiai Batochir by a unanimous decision last March 11, 2023 in Cheongpyeong, South Korea.

"I am very happy because there is so much opportunity and only a few boxers have been given the chance to qualify for the Olympic,” said Titing Laurente.

Laurente is a former member of the Philippine team for five years before he turned pro in 2019.

He became the Philippine Boxing Federation super featherweight champion after beating JR Magboo by a knockout in the 1st round last November 20, 2022 in Mandaluyong City.
