TWO former champions Mark Anthony Geraldo of Bukidnon and Ryan Rey Ponteras of Panabo City will be fighting against each other on April 8 at the Valencia City Gym in Valencia City, Bukidnon.

Geraldo, a former Philippine super bantamweight champion, lost his last fight against Mike Plania by a TKO in the 1st round last May 17 at the Sanman Gym in Gen. Santos City.

Geraldo, who is also a WBO Oriental bantamweight champion in 2017, has not won since 2021 and has lost a total of four straight fights.

He first lost his belt to Carl Jammes Martin via a unanimous decision last December 4, 2021 at the Elorde Sports Complex in Paranaque City.

Ponteras, on the other hand, has fought five times in 2023 and likewise lost all of them.

Ponteras, a former Philippine flyweight champion, first fought against Michael Casama for the PBF super bantamweight title by a TKO in the 7th round last March 9 at Norala.

Ponteras’ last bout was against Jhunrille Castino where he lost by unanimous decision last December 28 in Tagbilaran City.

Both of them are eager to win this year in order to get back in the ratings.

Meanwhile, the card will have two main events – Wenie Cline Verano [11-0-0, 8KOs] of Valencia will face Kamaljeet Kaur [2-1-0, 1KOs] of India for WBC Asia flyweight title and Raymond Poon KaiChing [9-2-0, 6KOs] of HongKong takes on Jerry Francisco [9-2-0, 2KOs] of Gen. Santos City for WBC Asia light flyweight title.

It is promoted by the Verano Boxing Club in cooperation with the local government of Valencia headed by Mayor Azucena Huervas.
