Strongman Club Inaugural Championship on May 19

THE Strongman Club of Northern Philippines will hold its SCNP Inaugural Championship on May 19 at the Ednin’s Place in Santa Catalina, Ilocos Sur.
“This morning [April 4] I received permission from the mayor of Santa Catalina, Ilocos Sur to host the event on the beach in his city,” said organizer Elyas Bin Yahya Abdul-Ghaffar Rucker.
The competition will involve carrying sandbags, throwing sandbags over a ten-foot bar, lifting atlas stones [cement stones] over a four-foot bar, walking with a heavy weight on the shoulders, standing while holding heavy in the hands [to test grip endurance], pressing heavy metal “logs” overhead, and pressing a “circus dumbbell” overhead using one arm.
“Each athlete will be given points based on their place in the event, with points being totaled to determine the final places,” said Rucker.
The top three finishers will receive trophies or medals. The registration fee is P500 with a free SCNP t-shirt and certificate.
