Montano to Fight for WBO Oriental Welterweight Title

JOEPHER “El Guapito” Montano of Bago City will go to Thailand to fight Atchariya Wirojanasunobol for the WBO Oriental welterweight title on March 30 at the World Siam Stadium in Bangkok.

The 27-year-old Montano, had four fights last year including a WBO Oriental welterweight victory against Muhammad Bilal on June 29, 2023 in Bangkok.

Montano, who is now based in Dubai, also twice fought for his Asian Boxing Federation welterweight title.

He first retired Khashajar Ghassemi in the 6th round last March 30 at the Spaceplus Bangkok.

Montano then retained his ABF welterweight title by stopping Rivo Kundimang in the 2nd round lastSeptember 30, 2023 at FCC Gym in Pattaya.

Montano currently has 17 wins with 15 knockouts, five loses and two draws while Wirojanasunobol has 14 wins with six knockouts and two loses.

Wirojanasunobol recently scored a technical knockout in the 3rd round against Sirisak Wisat in the 3rd round last September 17, 2023 at Sathian Muaythai Gym and Fitness in Bangkok.

The promoters are Supanat Chanram and Brico Santig of Highland Boxing Team.
