Team BBG of Baguio is over-all champ

DAVAO CITY -- Team BBG of Baguio District is over-all champion in the 13 Under of the 2nd Davao City Athletic Festival last March 23-24 at the University of Mindanao Sports Complex in Matina, Davao City.

Team BGG under Coach Roel Amabao-Ano was composed of four barangays - Wines, Tawan-Tawan, Gumalang and Baguio.

Sylla Paje bagged four gold medals in the 800m, 400m, 4x100 and 4x400m relay while Frince Legaspi took three golds and one silver [1500m, 4x100 relay, 4x400 relay and 800m].

Angelyn Maynopas got one gold and a silver [200m and 4x100] while Nichole Alcano had a gold and a silver [4x100m relay and high jump].

The other Team BBG winners were:

Rosevel Escobia - 2 golds, 2 bronzes [400m, 100m, 4x400 & 4x100 relay]

Cielo Abenir – 1 gold [4x100 relay]

Jerly Bastilida - 1 gold [4x100 relay]

Adrea Andrade – 1 bronze discus [shot put]

Ramel Fulguerinas – 1 gold & 1 silver [4x100 and 100m]

Mark Binobo – 1 gold, 2 bronzes [4x100, 400m and 4x400]

Clint Salcor – 1 gold [4x100]

Frynch Francisco – 1 gold [4x100]

Harold Saladio – 1 bronze [high jump]

Kench Cayog – 1 bronze [4x400]

BBG took the girl’s gold in 13 Under followed by CVAES in silver medal.

Crossing Bayabas National High School settled for bronze.

In the boy’s 13 Under category, Team Davao Striders got the gold. Calinan NHS got the silver and EMAR Youth Athletic had the bronze.

But BBG was the over-all champion because of the number of medals.

Meanwhile, the Air Force of the Philippines dominated the men’s and women’s category to win the overall title.

AFP topped the men’s division followed by Team Go for Gold and University of Mindanao Davao as silver and bronze, respectively.

AFP also won the gold in the distaff side. UM Davao got the silver followed by UM Tagum.

In the 18 Under, Leyte Sports Academy emerged as the over-all champion after ruling the girl’s division and finishing silver in the boy’s category.

Hinatuan Barabo and Surallah Kangaroo took the silver and bronze respectively.

Cotabato Carabao Runners topped the boy’s division while bronze went to Surallah.

The two-day race was organized by the Davao City Track and Field Association [DATAFA] and Philippine Amateur Track and Field Association [PATAFA] Region 11.

The medals were awarded by PATAFA Executive Vice President Guillermo Torres, Jr. and DATAFA president Kenneth Sai.
