ARAW NETFEST: Padao-Lim, Trumpeta-Mainar are top seeds

PALARONG Pambansa gold medalist Andrei Padao of Digos City and PNG mixed doubles gold winner Isaac Christian Lim of Toril are again the top seed in this year’s open men’s doubles of the Araw ng Dabaw Tennis Championship.

This year’s tournament will be held on March 1 to 3, 16 and 17 at the Toril Tennis Club.

“Padao and Lim are the champions in last year’s Araw ng Dabaw and Kadayawan,” said tournament director Juanito “Titong” Cansino.

The top seed in the open women’s doubles are Socorro Trumpeta of Tagum and Yonee Lei Mainar of Bansalan.

Trumpeta and Mainar also emerged champion in last year’s Araw and Kadayawan.

They will play against Chelsea Bernaldez and Sofia Mari Rama while Padao-Lim are scheduled to face Karl Ballie and Arc Dolorito.

“All of their opponents are from Tagum,” said Cansino.

The other opening match in open men are: Jesrhel Anianao and Jason Blando against Tristan Uyanguren and Dex Leo Sanchez and Ryle Aquino and Andrei Sing versus Jekjek Pinili and Fritz Domingo.

The open women will also have Tata Riogelon-Kathy Leopardas against Iya Montefalcon-Medy Grace Lobrigas; Faith Lazaro-Lilette Purca vs. Norms Mamukid-Chere Buyante; Kyla Cabanas-Juliane Marie Gonoz vs. Patricia Adaza-Macy Serrano.

The other categories are 25 Below Men’s Doubles, 35 Below Men’s Doubles, 45 Above Men’s Doubles, 40 Above Women’s Doubles and 50 Above Men’s Single.

A total cash prize of P50,000 plus medals to the champions will be given away.
