VIRGEL “Valiente” Vitor of Tagbilaran City will fight dangerous Tae Sun Kim of South Korea for the vacant World Boxing Organization (WBO) Oriental super featherweight title on March 8 at the Saulog Gym in Tagbilaran City.

“We’re ready for the fight,” said 26-year-old Vitor, who is being trained by Romnick Hoybia.

Vitor is currently sparring with Japanese Shigetoshi Kotari, Jason Tinampay and veteran Rodel Wenceslao.

Vitor retained the WBO Oriental super featherweight title after knocking out Dong Kwan Lee in the 2nd round last December 8, 2022 at the Calape Sports Center in Barangay Desamparados, Calape.

But Vitor failed to defend it again last year.

He also lost to Japanese Toshihiro Suzuki by split decision last August 24, 2023 at Korakuen Hall in Tokyo.

So the belt was put on the vacant seat.

“I’m more focused now and I can get in the fight,” said Vitor.

Vitor has 21 wins with 16 knockouts against three losses while Kim has 11 wins with eight knockouts, one loss and two draws.

Kim, a South Korean super featherweight champion, recently scored a 6th round technical knockout against Giuliano Fantone of Thailand last July 29, 2023 in Bangkok.

Meanwhile, undefeated Reymart Tagacanao of Cebu will face Hamson Lamandau of Indonesia in the undercard.

The boxing event is promoted by Floriezyl Podot of PMI Bohol Boxing Promotions with Edito Villamor as the matchmaker.
