AFTER two successful comeback fights last year, undefeated Wenie Cline Verano of Valencia City resumed her campaign against Kamaljeet Kaur of India on April 8 in Bukidnon.
“I'm in Davao training at MP Boxing Gym,” said the 30-year-old Verano (11W-0L, 8KOs).
The coaches are veteran Nonoy Neri, Brille Vincent Dayagaon and Arries Jay Buenavidez while Verano’s sparring mates are male boxers Kenneth Rapista and Jik Obas.
“I’m currently 53 kilos but I will be 51 in the day of the fight,” said Verano.
Verano stopped boxing due to Covid in 2019 after beating by a unanimous decision Joan Ambalong on December 21 in Iligan City.
She made a comeback in 2023 by scoring a unanimous decision over Monthawee Srisongkhram of Thailand last June 29 at the Spaceplus Bangkok RCA in Bangkok,Thailand.
Verano again went to Bangkok to beat Kadesara Jadpakdee of Thailand by a technical decision in the 6th round last October 26 at Spaceplus.
Verano is now determined to beat the 18-year-old Kaur.
In her last fight, Kaur bested compatriot Teena Pachai by a unanimous decision last October 26, 2023 in Badiala Boxing Club.
“Good luck with the fight and give me all the best for the fight,” said Verano.
