THE Moralde Boxing Team of Davao City emerged as the overall champion in the 2nd Rajah Sportsfest Boxing Invitational Tournament held last October 21 and 22 at the Baywalk in the City of Mati.

The Moralde sluggers took five golds, one silver and three bronzes to dominate the four-team tournament.

Host Mati finished second with two golds, five silvers and three bronzes followed by Davao del Norte with two golds, three silvers and five bronzes.

General Santos City settled for 4th place with one gold, one silver and eight bronzes.

The gold medalist for Moralde were schoolboys Erick Erana (36-38 kg), Andro Vallentos (38-40 kg), Jian Aguhayon (46-48 kg), Prince Arm's Cole (50-52 kg) and junior John More Bacsan (49-50 kg).

The silver medal was won by Kerck Loyd Sipatan (youth boys) while the bronzes were won by Richard Caballero, Rafer Arebafo and Prince Cabig.

The coaches were Engelbert '’Aguila” Moralde, Richard Moralde, Edwin Moralde Jr. and Timoy.

“Despite that there was no support given to us by the Davao City government, we still fought to win the over-all championship,” said Aguila Moralde.

The 16-man Moralde team in Buhangin only took a multi-cab vehicle on the way to Mati.
