Gomez KOs Thai in 1st round, Torres wins again

HERLAN "Niño Bonito" Gomez of Bacolod City pulled another smashing knockout when he stopped Komgrich Nantapech of Thailand in 2:48 of the 1st round to win the vacant WBC Asian Silver bantamweight title last September 28 at the Spaceplus Bangkok RCA in Bangkok, Thailand.

The 24-year-old Gomez knocked down Nantapech early in the round with a combination. When the fight resumed, Gomez again hit Nantapech with a right punch by which the Thai never recovered again.

Gomez, who is based in Bangkok under the Highland Boxing Team, thanked his manager Monju Guanzon of Bacolod and promoter Brico Santig of Bangkok for supporting him.

He also thanked the support of Supanat Chanram and trainer Francisco Jaro.

Meanwhile, Ador Torres of Sorsogon retained his ABF welterweight title by knocking out Phanthawit Chuphirom of Thailand in the 1st round in the supporting bout.

It was the 3rd title defense of 28-year-old Torres.

The other results:

Sana Hazuki of Japan retired Denise Castle of United Kingdom in the 5th round;

Mikael Arutyunyan of Russia TKO’d Nakharin Hangyun of Thailand in the 1st round to win the vacant ABF featherweight;

Hin Ting Cham of Hong Kong won the Thai light flyweight title by beating Chutian Khong in 8-rounds;

Farrukh Arslonoy ofUzbekistan stopped Vachayan Khamon in 3rd round.

Liza Bechina of France outpointed Sukaya Wanga Wangarsa of Thailand.
