UM Davao tops seniors in DC Athletics Open

HOST University of Mindanao Davao ruled the men and women’s Seniors Division of the 2023 Davao City Athletics Open held last August 26 and 27 at the University of Mindanao track oval in Ma-a.

UM Davao hauled 5 gold medals with 3 silvers and 1 bronze to win the men’s team.

They were followed by the Philippine Air Force with 3 golds, 1 silver and 3 bronzes.

Third was Spectrum Runners Visayas Chapter with 3 golds, 1 silver and 2 bronzes.

UM Davao also ruled the women’s division by winning 10 golds, 6 silvers and 1 bronze.

UM Tagum finished second with 5 golds, 4 silvers and 1 bronze followed by Hagonoy Davsur Aces with 1 gold and 3 bronzes.

In the Youth Boys Division, Surallah Kangaroo topped with 7 golds and 2 bronze.

Second was Del Norte Regional Sports Academy with 3 golds, 3 silvers and 3 bronzes followed by Sto. Tomas track and field team with a 2-3-3 medal tally.

EMAR Athletics Team, however, dominated the Youth Girls division with 8 golds, 2 silvers and 1 bronze.

Surallah was second with 7 golds and 2 bronzes while third was Hagonoy with 2-3-4 medal count.

But Suralla emerged as the over-all champion in the Youth Division while UM Davao was the over-all champion in the Senior division.

The event was sanctioned by the PATAFA and organized by the Davao City Track and Field Association (DCTFA) headed by Kenneth Sai.
