VINCENT “Asero” Astrobio of General Santos City is going to Bangkok to fight Nawaphon Kaikanha of Thailand for the WBC bantamweight elimination bout on August 26 at the Tupatemi Airforce Central Stadium.
The 26-year-old Astrolabio is coming with chief trainer/manager Raides “Nonoy” Neri, bantamweight Aries “Thunder” Buenavidez and flyweight Vincent Dayaganon.
“But Buenavidez and Dayaganon will be both at the corner to assist me,” said Neri.
They will leave Davao City on August 22.
Astrolabio has been sparring with Ernesto Cagapang, Ariel Antimaro, Pepito Masangkay and Kim Bryan Mabuyao.
Astrolabio (18-4-0, 13KOs) recently lost by a controversial majority decision against Aussie Jason Moloney for the vacant WBO World bantamweight title last May 13, 2023 in Stockton Arena in Stockton.
The 31-year-old Kaikanha (58-2-1, 48KOs), on the other hand, had also lost to Moloney by a unanimous decision in 12-rounds last October 16, 2022 in Melbourne.
The winner between Kaikanha and Astrolabio will get another chance to fight Moloney in a title-bout.
Kaikanha is a former WBC Asian bantamweight champion.
