FORMER World Boxing Organization (WBO) World minimumweight champion Merlito “Tiger” Sabillo of Negros Occidental suffered another setback by losing to undefeated American Mattew “Diamond Boy” Griego by a 7th round technical knockout last August 5 in Albuquerque, USA.

It was the 9th loss by the 39-year-old Sabillo against 27 wins and one draw while Griega remained unbeaten with 14 wins and 10 knockouts.

Sabillo tasted his last win by retaining his Asian Boxing Federation light flyweight title with a unanimous decision over Crison Omayao of Bukidnon last October 20, 2017 in Bacolod City.

Sabillo then lost to Edward Heno by a split decision in their dual meet of ABF and OPBF light flyweight titles last February 17, 2018 in Bacolod.

Sabillo also lost to Jing Xiang by a unanimous decision for the vacant WBC Silver light flyweight championship last September 15, 2018 in Qinzhou Sports Center Gym in Qinzhou.
