Calalas is new MinProBA prexy

KAGAWAD Allan Calalas of Compostela, Davao de Oro was elected as the new president of the Mindanao Professional Boxing Association (MinProBA) during an election held last July 14 at the Gorio-Soo Café in Davao City.

The 59-year-old Calalas replaced Engr. Jilson Basang of Panabo City.

Calalas is also an elected official of Compostela and owner of the Alas Boxing Stable,

One of his boxers in newest MinProBA mini-flyweight champion Richard Garde, who will be defending his title for the first time against Dexter “Iligan Cement Kidmama”Alimento of Cagayan de Oro City on July 29 at Compostela.

Dr. Toto Sajulga of Bukidnon, who joined the election via Zoom, was elected as vice-president.

The other new officers are Kristine Itora as secretary; Rodel Garde as operation manager; Firmo Justine Aligato as treasurer; Jong Yamaro as auditor and JC Manangquil as PRO.

The Board of Trustees are Raides “Nonoy” Neri (Davao Region), Dexter Tan (General Santos City), Manny Pinol (Cotabato Region), Raffy Jimenez – (Northern Mindanao), Jo-Ay Lopez (Surigao Region) and Neil Cairo Sy (Zamboanga Region) while the Board Members are composed of Atty. Rizal Acas, Dr. William Arcilla, Robert Olanolan, Bong Forro, Grace Enaje, Rey Marban and Alfie Angelo Jonsay.

Veteran sportswriter and international judge Lito delos Reyes is the chairman of the Ratings Committee.

The members are Willie Neri, Neil Cairo Sy, Wowie Lalanto, Jo-Ay Lopez and Vanessa Neri.

The supervisors are Fatimah-Aliah Arani and Arnulfo Sazon for the Northern Area and Jaime Mata, Brenbot Dumalas and Kenneth Improso for the Southern Area.

The induction of officers might be held in September.
