It is one thing to have a nom de guerre that epitomizes a force of nature, and quite another to live up to the hype.
Jade Bornea is ready for his challenge against IBF super-flyweight champion Fernando Martinez this Saturday in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
“I have sacrificed a lot for this opportunity. I have been in the United States for 2 years, and I have not seen my family so I could focus on this fight. This Saturday, I will do everything I can to be a world champion,” Bornea expressed to PhilBoxing.com.
The humble fighter from Cotabato del Sur has been training at the Wild Card Gym in Hollywood and KnuckleHead Gym in Las Vegas since July 2021.
He has been sparring and training with the best Filipino boxers like Marlon Tapales, Jonas Sultan and Jerwin Ancajas.
For the record, Jade Dajay Bornea was born on August 2, 1995. He learned boxing through his grandfather when he was ten years old. • In the amateurs, he reached the semi-finals in the light-flyweight division at the Youth World Championships. In the paid ranks, he has acquired the following laurels:
• North American Boxing Federation (WBC) super-flyweight title, beating Ernesto Delgadila on 01-30-2020
• WBO Oriental Youth super-flyweight title, beating Danrick Sumabong on 04-28-2018
IBF Youth super-flyweight title, beating Raul Yu on 02-26-2017

“Jade is an all-around fighter, adept at offense and defense. He is a complete fighter and will do very well against Pumita Martinez,” enthused Mr. Gibbons added, ”We are in another boxing renaissance with marquee matches like the recent Tank Davis-Ryan Garcia, Vasil Lomachenko-Devin Haney fights and the upcoming Errol Spence-Terence Crawford super fight.”
MP Promotions President Sean Gibbons left no stone unturned in setting up the intriguing match between the Argentine bull and the Filipino matador.
