Alvin Lagumbay (L) and Art Monis.
SOUTHPAW Alvin “Time Bomb” Lagumbay of Bukidnon arrived again in Bermuda, a British Overseas Territory in the North Atlantic Ocean, for a rematch with tormentor Earl Bascome of Bermuda on May 27 at The Shed Dockyard in Sandys.
Lagumbay is accompanied by his promoter Vilma Acosta of Hardstone Monis Promotions, trainer Romart Monis and super middleweight Ronniel Tabayag, who will also fight against undefeated Andre Lambe of Bermuda.
The 28-year-old Lagumbay earlier lost by a unanimous decision to Bascome last June 29, 2019 in Bermuda.
“Now we are sweating inside the house because it's raining. We are skipping rope and shadow boxing only,” said Lagumbay.
Lagumbay is now 66.8 kilos already and only eats bread and fruits and drinks coffee.
“I’m under already,” said the 5-foot-9 Lagumbay.
He recently scored a technical knockout in the 1st round against Kelvin Tenorio last May 31, 2023 in San Fernando City.
But after a one year hiatus in 2021 due to a pandemic, Lagumbay had two bouts in 2022.
He first won by TKO over Atilla Layabasi of Germany in the 2nd round last March 12 in Dubai.
But in the second bout, Lagumbay lost by a TKO in the 2nd round over Andy Hiraoka of Japan for the WBO Asia Pacific super lightweight title in Korakuen Hall last September 13.
Lagumbay is presently having 14 wins with 12 knockouts against 6 loses and 1 draw.
The 32-year-old Bascome, on the other hand, has 11 wins with 2 knockouts and 1 loss.
