JOHN Riel “Quadro Alas” Casimero of Ormoc City connected with many punches including a knockdown in the 6th round to beat Fillipus Nghitumbwa of Namibia by unanimous decision last night, May 13, at the Okada Manila Hotel and Casino in Paranaque City.

The 34-year-old Casimero almost knocked down Nghitumbwa in the 5th round but the Namimbian was saved by the bell in the last minute.

But in the next round, Casimero immediately made a follow-up with a barrel of punches that sent Nghitumbwa to the canvas.

Nghitumbwa was again to stand and saved by the bell in the 6th round.

Casimero continued to land his punches in the remaining rounds.
Nghitumbwa was disappointed after referee Danrex Tapdasan deducted him for punching the back of Casimero’s head in the 11th round.

Casimero improved his record to 33 wins with four loses and 22 knockouts while Nghitumbwa suffered only his second loss in 12 wins.
