Jaitulla to swim 15KM in Sarangani Bay

FORMER Olympic swimmer Jairulla “Elder” Jaitulla will compete in the coming first Gov. Pacquiao Cup Swim Across Sarangani Bay on May 27 from the Sarangani Energy Corporation up to the Mt. Sabrina Beach Resort.

It is a 15-kilometer swim in Sarangani Bay.

The 72-year-old Jaitulla, who is dubbed as the “Aqua Man of Mindanao”, competed at the 1972 Summer Olympics and the 1984 Summer Olympics.

Jaitulla recently swam non-stop from Siasi Harbor to Siganggang Island and vice versa.

Siasi to Siganggang is approximately twice the distance from Isabela to Malamawi, which is only 0.2 nautical miles, he recently swam before these.

The youngest participant in the Sarangani Bay is 14-year-old Robb Nathan Mariano.

The other competitors are Arthur Abogado, Joanna Marie Cruz, Allen Joy Santos, Ellaiza Nicole Rojo, Josh Michael Lao, Eirron Vibar, Ceejhay Gonzaga, Christian Dave Parantar, Jomarie Berja, Joy Pormilos II, Kienre Dave Montero, Felix Delos Santos, Kemuel Belmonte Rapisora, Allyn Joseph Cubero, Arveign Joshua Maru, Haroon Caballero Cali and Arnel Pacquiao.

Meanwhile, Bladimir Sebastian Gonzales, 12, a Person with disability (Intellectual) will swim in the three kilometer race.

“They are part of this history!” said organizer Dong Gonzales.

The first placer will get P15,000 while the second will receive P10,000, third will pocket P7,000 while the finishers will get P3,000 each.
