WBC presents special belt to Canelo-Ryder on May 5 (Video)

On a special day at the historic facilities of the Mexican Chamber of Deputies, the WBC has presented the commemorative belt that will be delivered to the winner of the mega event of the boxing and world sports superstar, Saúl “Canelo” Álvarez vs. John Ryder on May 6 at the Akron stadium in Zapopan, Jalisco.

The president of the WBC, Mauricio Sulaimán, explained that the WBC green and gold belt is the highest recognition for those who enter the ring with the aim of conquering glory, the WBC in its tireless search for innovation has created a series of special belts and the only ones that Mexico and the WBC grant to the fighters who face each other on the two most important dates for Mexico and boxing: May 5 (Batalla de Puebla) and September 16 (Mexican Independence Day).



It was a special moment with special and striking traditional regional dances and an incredible show that represented the best of Puebla and Jalisco.

The belt possesses a mixture of colors, from fiery reds and oranges to light blues and greens; However, this unique piece has intricate details that make it truly special. The iconic China Poblana on the side, which represents a symbol of strength and resistance in Mexican culture. And behind it is the majestic Popocatépetl volcano, as a testimony of the power and beauty of nature.

Meanwhile, on the Jalisco side, the belt pays homage to the region's most famous crop: the agave. This plant, which is used to produce the Mexican alcohol tequila; set as a symbol of hard work and celebration. Also, on the button panels is the charro suit, a symbol of strength, elegance and poise; finally, the Tequila volcano lies as a representation of the beauty of the relief of western Mexico.
