29 teams in Athletics Festival

TWENTY-NINE teams will battle it out in the 86th Araw ng Dabaw Athletics Festival 2023 on March 18 and 19 at the University of Mindanao oval in Ma-a.

The teams are Leyte Sports Academy, Surallah Kangaroo Runners, University of Mindanao, Tean BBG, Xavier University-CdO, Catalunan Pequeno ES, CVAES, Buda NHS, Municipality of Villanueva (MisOr), South East Asian Institute of Technology (South Cotabato), Tandag City, RMC Trachsters, Team Bukid Sprinters-Malaybalay, Calinan Central ES, Team Paquibato, DNRSA, Tacurong City, Dona Carmen Team Roop, Team USEP, Calinan NHS, EMAR, Mati City, Jesus V. Ayala ES, Davao City NHS, AL Navarro NHS, Maasin City Athletics, Bernardo D. Carpio NHS, Davao del Sur College and Davao Oriental State University.

“At least 450 athletes will see action,” said Kenneth Sai, president of the Davao City Track and Field Association (DCTAFA).

They will vie for 384 medals at stake. There will be seniors, juniors and elementary divisions. The events are 100 meters, 200m, 400m, 1500m, 3000m, 5000m, 10K, 4x100 and 4x400 relay.

Also to be played are shot put, discus throw, javelin throw, long jump, triple jump and 2000 steeplechase.

Electronic timing will be used for this event courtesy of PARAFA EVP and Regional Director Willie Torres.

Torres will also be the guest of honor together with DCSO OIC Mikey Aportadera.

The event is supported by the UM, Davao City Sports Office, Cong. Paolo Duterte, Sen. Bato dela Rosa, Dennis Scott and AYU Construction.
