
A.L. Navarro, Imelda top Athletics Festival

THE A.L. Navarro High School of Lasang and Imelda Elementary School of Mintal topped the 86th Araw ng Dabaw Athletics Festival 2023 last March 4 at the University of Mindanao oval in Ma-a.
Christy Perez of Navarro won the 100 meter dash in the girl’s division. Second was Samatha Shane Duran of Calinan National High School followed by Letty Mae Enopera of Crossing Bayabas.
Navarro’s Mara Pevida dominated the girl’s long jump event at 3.64. She was followed by teammate Flyn Rebucas at 3.62 while at third was Mary Ann Gencanios of Bernardo Central at 3.48.
Navarro also won the 4x100 girl’s division.
Imelda’s Adrian Gomez won the boy’s 50m. He was followed by John Daryl Onis of Sta. Clara and Jeiel Trinidad of Mabini.
Imelda also topped the boy’s 4x100 relay.
Philippine Athletics Track and Field Association (PATAFA) president Terra Capistrano of Manila was the special guest.
The two-day event was opened by EVP and Regional Director Willie Torres.
Also present were City Councilor Pilar Braga, Davao City Sports Office OIC Mikey Aportadera and Davao City Track and Field Association (DCTAFA) president Kenneth Sai.
