ORTHODOX Romshane “Hammer” Sarguilla of Midsayap will fight Reymark “Machine Gun” Taday of Cotabato for the vacant Philippine Boxing Federation super flyweight title tonight, February 28 at the Pres. Roxas in North Cotabato.

The 28-year-old Sarguilla has trained for three months already.

“It’s a gonna be a good fight since we both trained well,” said Sarguilla.

He sparred with ex-PBF flyweight champion Michael Bravo (13-2-0, 6KOs), Jeronil “Chocolatito” Borres (11-7-2, 6KOs), Mark “Mighty” Antonio (6-0, 6KOs), Garen “Hellboy” Diagan (9-3-0, 5KOs) and Jerson Arigola (4-0, 2KOs).

Sarguilla, who has been practicing at the gym of veteran Lito Mondejar, is already 115 pounds.

His new manager is former Secretary Emmanuel “Manny” Pinol while brother Rod Michael Sarguilla is his trainer.

Sarguilla won the LuzProBA super flyweight title in 2018 by beating Mervin Lulu via a unanimous decision at La Trinidad.

He accidentally had a head clash with Andika D’Golden Boy of Indonesia to suffer a technical decision loss in the 6th round last April 6, 2019 in Jakarta.

Sarguilla (7-7-2, 4KOs) was then recently stopped by undefeated KJ Cataraja in the 3rd round last February 26, 2022 in Gensan.

Taday (10-18-1, 5KOs), on the other hand, also fell short to unbeaten Dannel Maamo in the 4th round last December 20, 2022 in Lagonglong.

Meanwhile, Sarguilla’s sparring mates will also see action in the under card.

Bravo will fight Ernesto Camiguing while Borres faces Jovanie Tagusi of Sarangani. Antonio will go up against Mark Glen Antaran of Sarangani and Arigola takes on Jason Facularin.

The boxing event, dubbed as “Matira ang Matibay”, is promoted by Manny Pinol of the Braveheart Boxing Promotion.

Rodel Garde is the matchmaker.
