VILORIA, FARENAS VICTORIOUS IN MEXICO

Former world champion Brian Viloria and up-and-coming Michael Farenas registered contrasting victories today at Plaza Monumental in Aguascalientes, Mexico.
Viloria notches his third win this year after a dismal performance last year with a third round TKO win over Fred Heberto Valdez. Viloria has now upped his record to 22-2-0 with 13 KOs and is now looking forward to be back in the loop for title matches.
Farenas, a protege of WBO bantamweight king Gerry Penalosa, wins by unanimous decision over Fermin de los Santos of Mexico in six rounds. Farenas was cut in the first round by an accidental headbutt and told PhilBoxing.com the gush "made the fight difficult" for him. Farenas is now 21-2-2 with 18 KOs.
