VETERAN Mark John “The Journey Man Rebirth” Yap of Cagayan de Oro will fight Leonardo “Toto” Doronio of Nueva Valencia today, January 30 at The Flash Grand Ballroom of the Elorde Sports Complex in Paranaque City.

It will be the 49th fight of the 34-year-old Yap, who now has 31 wins, 17 loses and 15 knockouts against Doronio (18-20-3).

Yap, however, will be fighting in the lightweight division, which is much heavier than the super featherweight division.

Both tipped the scales at 134.4 lbs. today.

“I’ll do my best in the fight to show how I have changed already in boxing,” said Yap.

Yap had three fights since he had a comeback last year.

He won his last fight against Junior Kauko Raka of Papua New Guinea by a unanimous decision last October 23 at the Elorde Sports Complex.

Raka was down once in Round 8.

Yap first had a comeback last February 26 when he lost to undefeated Jadier Herrera of Cuba by a unanimous decision at Dubai Marina in Dubai.

In his second fight, Yap again lost by unanimous decision to undefeated Charly Suarez of Davao del Norte for the vacant WBA Asia super featherweight title at Paranaque City.

Yap wants to go home immediately to be with his wife who just gave birth to their one-month baby girl.
