
Mananquil fights Baldonado for vacant RP bantamweight

PHILIPPINE rated no. 3 Ben “Nightmare” Mananquil of General Santos City will fight no. 5 ranked Ronnie “Jong Jong” Baldonado of Cotabato for the vacant Philippine bantamweight title on January 30 at The Flash Grand Ballroom of the Elorde Sports Complex in Paranaque City.
The 30-year-old Mananquil is still 125 pounds, just seven pounds over the fight match.
Mananquil has been sparring with team mates Reymart Gaballo, Kenny Demicillo, Judy Flores, Jerven Mama, Ken Jordan and Vince Paras.
“In this fight, I will try my best to become a champion,” said Mananquil.
Mananquil will leave General Santos City for Manila together with his coach Paul Apolinario. They will be accompanied by JC Manangquil and Dexter Tan of Sanman.
Mananquil recently lost to Phumelele Cafu of South Africa by retirement for the vacant WBA Inter-Continental super flyweight title on July 29, 2022 at the International Convention Centre in East London.
Mananquil is toting 18 wins, three loses, three draws with five knockouts while Baldonado has 15 wins, four loses, one draw with nine knockouts.
