CEBU CITY -- Both Z "The Dream" Gorres and Malcolm "Eagle Eye" Tunacao vowed to give fans their money's worth when they clash against separate rivals on May 31 topbilling the "One more Time" card at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel.
Speaking to the media hours ago, Gorres said he has tried his best to rectify the mistakes of the past, which caused him victories against WBO champ Fernando Montiel and the highly-touted Vic Darchinyan.
Gorres (27-2-2, 15 KO's) was accompanied to the press conference by his manager Michael Aldeguer, trainer Edito Villamor, ALA vice president Dennis Canete, Malcolm Tunacao and Jason Pagara.
Gorres takes on Kenyan Nick Otieno in the ten-round main event, with a victory sure to solidify his status as the challenger to the winner of the August 2 showdown between Dmitri Kirilov and Vic Darchinyan.
Tunacao (21-2-3, 14 KO's), appearing calm and well-chiseled, said his personal problems are a thing of the past, and he will be fighting with renewed vigor and enthusiasm.
"I don't have personal and managerial problems now. I am training very hard, with nothing bothering me," Tunacao stated, qualifying his loss to compatriot Rolly Lunas for the OPBF bantam title.
Tunacao will trade punches with Tanzanian Rashid Ally in a ten-round showdown which will give fans a peek of what's left of the former WBC flyweight king.
New ALA fighter Jason Pagara, the 16-year-old wonder from Cagayan de Oro City, goes up against Indonesia's Heri Adriyanto.
Pagara (13-1, 7 KO's) has indicated he will knock out Adriyanto within three rounds during a recent appearance at radio program "Pinoy Boxing."
"My manager Capt Eronico and my father are coming to watch me fight. And I'm not going to disappoint them," said Pagara in an interview.
Several other explosive match-ups are on tap for the night, said ALA Promotions vice-president Dennis Canete.
Tickets will be available on Wednesday at the following outlets: ALA Gym-BTC, Island Souvenir boutiques in SM and Ayala; Bisaya Ispisyal boutiques in SM and Ayala; and ALA main office c/o Brent at telephone number 346-3489 mobile no. 09173253005.
