EDWIN Moralde Sr., the father of six boxers including two professionals, died last November 22 in Davao City.
Moralde is 64 years old. He is the husband of Erlinda.
Moralde will be laid to rest on December 1.
They have five sons – Richard, 36, Edwin Jr., 33, Engelbert, 30, Betheloise, 27 and John Vincent, 28 – who all got involved in amateur boxing.
One of the three girls also tried her luck in boxing.
Betheloise, 27, had 11 fights as an amateur boxer. The two others were Mae Rose, 38 and Elijah Corie Joy, 34.
Richard also played sepak takraw while Engelbert “Aguila” and John Vincent “Mulawin” both entered professional boxing.
Aguila (10W-6L, 6KOs) quit boxing last 2018 to concentrate on the coaching job at the Moralde Boxing Gym.
Mulawin, on the other hand, has three wins already this year – all held in Columbia. He has a total of 27 wins, five loses with 16 knockouts.
He is based in Miami, Florida, USA.
Mulawin lost by a 4th round knockout to William Zepeda Segura for the WBA Continental American lightweight title last November 13, 2021 in Anahelm.
Mulawin won the World Boxing Federation International Featherweight title, WBC Asian Boxing Council Continental Featherweight title, World Boxing Federation International Super Bantamweoght title and Philippines Boxing Federation (PBF) Super Bantamweight title.
