Reyes scores 3rd win in DUKC

UNDEFEATED Karl Reyes of Elorde Davao Gym continued his winning ways by beating Reymark Mabirez of Iflex Spartan in “The Battle 2” last Saturday at the Elorde Davao Gym.

The 27-year-old Reyes won his third straight victory in the Davao Ultimate Knockout Challenge (DUKC).

The 5-foot-10 Reyes first beat compatriot John Winston Concoles via a 1st round technical knockout during the inaugural DUKC,

The 82-kilogram Reyes crushed Michael Calingin of Steelyard Gym last

“It feels great to win again. I still have a little experience,” said Reyes.

Reyes needs to learn a lot, but so far as he gains experience in the ring. Reyes said he became more comfortable and saw what needs to be improved and what needs to be avoided.

“It's a good feeling, especially since I'm a competitive person,” said Reyes.

This is the third sport for Reyes, who first started with basketball then volleyball.

Meanwhile, Christopher Dayanghirang and J Pina Carpina, both from the Moralde Gym also won by a unanimous decision.

Dayanghirang, an 80 kilogram, outpunched Michael Calingin of Steelyard Gym, while 77-kilogram Carpina beat Philip Oscarn Agulo of Bidot Gym.

"It's like Papa is here at the gym to watch and guide me,” said Aguila Moralde, head coach of the Moralde Gym in Buhangin.

The other results:

McKhurt Ian Lloren of Blackhawk Gym outslugged Alan Lloyd Nalzaro of J & G Dumaguit Gym (48 kgs.);

Nino Mondejar of BPJJAMMA Fitness scored a split decision over Keith John Ardenio of Blackhawk (65 kgs);

Jay Clyde Langahin of Blackhawk beat Al-Hussein Mandaragon of Balikatan SPO Fight Club (62 kgs);

Carlos John Zambrano of Balikatan won by a split decision over Abdul Sahibil of BPJJAMMA (104 kgs).

It was the third promotion by the DUKC under Alfie Angelo Jonsay. Matchmaker is Rodel Garde.
