INTERNATIONAL referee and judge Danrex Tapdasan conducted a refresher seminar workshop for the Mindanao Professional Ring Officials Association (MinPROA) last Saturday at the Elorde Davao Gym in Matina.

Tapdasan, who is also a lawyer, shared the latest rules he got from the World Boxing Organization Conference in Puerto Rico last October.

He immediately used it during his latest refereeing job at the revival of the Blow-by-Blow boxing program last November 20 in Mandaluyong.

“I immediately applied it during the Blow-by-Blow boxing program,” said Tapdasan.

Tapdasan, who is the president of Association of Philippine Professional Boxing Ring Officials (APPBRO), talked about the standard rules, scoring system, 10 point must system and criteria for judging.

He also discussed the safety of the boxers and how to enforce the rules.

Tapdasan, who showed three videos about different fights, said that nobody can stop the fight even the president.

“Only the referee can stop the fight,” said Tagdasan.

The workshop was organized by MinPROA president Alberto “Bebot” Dulalas in coordination with the Games and Amusements Board (GAB) headed by OIC Arnulfo “Teng” Sazon II.

The participants were former GAB Davao OIC Jaime Mata, international judge Lito delos Reyes, Mario de Ramos, Sabas Ponpon Sr., Romulo Neri III, Col. Rodolfo Alocelja, Emmanuel Bellezo, Rosendo Garcila Jr., Florante Malayon, Edson Baldonado, Ronald Mena, Rollylex Orosio, Aaron Odiong, Ramuel Ovalo of Pres Roxas, Arthur Carpentero of Kidapawan, Fernando Piccio of Tagum City, Bobby Oliveros of Isulan, Sultan Kudarat; Melvin Tagalog, Junar Lopez and Jolly Lopez of Surigao City.
