THE Davao Merchant Marine Academy (DMMA) College of Southern Philippines took back an early lead just in time to beat University of Mindanao Tagum, 97-92 for its second win in the Inter-Collegiate Division of the ALDO Cup at Barangay Apokon Gym in Tagum City.

The DMMA Mariners enjoyed their biggest lead at 60-47 at the start of the 3rd quarter. But the Tagum Wildcats slowly cut their deficit to just 93-92.

DMMA, however, immediately retaliated with back-to-back hits including two free throws by Julius Caezar Requillo in the dying seconds.

The Mariners posted its second win and the solo lead in Bracket B.

In the first game, Philippine Women’s College routed UM Penaplata, 95-74 in the Bracket A.

Saint John Paul II debuted last November 12 by crushing MATS Navigators, 97-75 in Bracket B also at Apokon Gym.
