THE Manguray brothers Hero and Nico will both see action in the Davao Ultimate Knockout Challenge (DUKC) 2 dubbed as “The Battle” on October 29 at the Elorde Gym at Tulip Drive in Matina.

The Mangurays from Team Alpha will not play in the usual mixed martial arts but instead fight in the amateur boxing in the special bouts.

Elder brother Hero, 20 will face Jericho Baccuado of CMMA Aguila Combat Academy while 18-year-old Nico will collide with Dave Morata of Panabo City.

They had their MMA debut fight last August in Valencia City and both of them won.

“That DUKC event is just a boxing sparring since boxing is one aspect of MMA,” said Universal Reality Combat Championship (URCC) veteran Dr. Angelito Manguray, who is the coach, trainer, mentor, manager and father.

The Mangurays next see action in MMA on November 12 at the Zamboanga del Norte.

Meanwhile, Dennis Quinonero of CMMA Aguila Combat Academy will also fight Junex Gamalo, an MMA and MuayThai instructor from the Elorde Gym in a special bout.

“They will fight for 3-rounds in amateur boxing,” said tournament director Rodel Garde of DUKC.

The main event of the DUKC 2 are Gianne Carlos Pascual of Elorde Gym against Keith John Ardenio of Blackhawk Gym in 69-kilograms, while the co-main event is Samuel Paul Uy Lorenzo of Black Hawk Gym versus Tristan James Aquino of Strive Fitness Gym in 62-kilograms.

DUKC founder Alfie Angelo Jonsay said the amateur boxing fights are sponsored by Nate’s and Nat’s, Coca-Cola, Davao City Sports Development Division, Whey King Davao, Go Sport and Elorde Gym.
