THE DMMA Sailors showed that it’s not really height that matters but the talent as they routed MATS Navigators, 94-74 last Sunday night at the Babak Gym in Samal Island, Davao del Norte.
Rookies Julius Caezar Requillo and Suaeb Jhamill Dimasingkil led the Sailors as they combined for 26 points in the first half as they led, 37-26.
Requillo top scored with 28 points including 14 in the first half with four triples. Dimasingkil added 18 with two trays.
Matthew Dospueblos led the Navigators with 16 points followed by Clyde Gloria with 13.
“It was the outside shooting plus our speed that made the difference,” said DMMA coach Bambie Santander.
It was the first game in the Inter-Collegiate Division of the ALDU Cup in the Davao del Norte Basketball League (DDNBL).
DMMA will next play in Tagum according to DDNBL Commissioner and SanMan Sports Foundation Chairman Arman Sañano.
Cash prizes were also given by Sañano to the raffle winners during the half-time break.
