THE Philippine Women’s College is now ready to play in the Inter-Collegiate Division of the ALDU Cup of the Davao del Norte Basketball League (DDNBL).

With its new head coach Peter Epe, the PWC Patriots has recently played for third place against Agro Industrial Foundation College in Magsaysay.

The Patriots, however, lost to the Agro Sailors, 101-114 last Sept. 23 after earlier crushing the Sailors, 93-82 in the elimination round.

“We beat them in the eliminations but we got defeated in the battle for 3rd place,” said Epe.

It was the first tournament participated by the Patriots since Epe took over Balot Celiz as the head coach last August.

The Patriots, however, got a special prize by performing the best “Tiktok Challenge”, beating Agro, St. John Paul College and Cor Jesu College.

The Patriots are now composed of Joshua Baring Lacadon, 6'0; Dave Tabucanon, 5'6; James Ian Escuyos, 6’0; Jimuel Odin, 6’1; Jericho Sugod, 5’6; Kirt Medrano, 5'9; Nathaniel del Campo, 5'11; Bob Montenegro, 6'0; Roberto Borinaga, 5'8; Patrick Lao, 6’0; Shame Valindez, 6’1; Piolo Serrano, 5'9; Rio Gomez, 5’6; Mauriz Senarillos, 6'2; Allen Tapusok, 5'10 and Kervy Mesario, 6’0.

“At least 85% of my team is now ready for the ALDU Cup”, said Epe.

Epe first took the coaching job at the Davao Merchant AA in 1998 to 2003. He later transferred to MATS in 2003 until the pandemic.

But Epe maintained his assistant coaching job with the commercial team Montana Pawnshop.

Epe is now practicing with his Patriots daily from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m.

“I will just give the best in training to improve these boys, who are mostly newcomers” said Epe.

The ALDU Cup is part of the Davao del Norte Basketball League (DDNBL), which is managed by SanMan Sports Foundation in partnership with RED Sports & Events
