In this limited 30-part series, we shall be discussing each team’s latest developments, current roster, and future prospects in the upcoming 2022-2023 NBA season. For every team, we will examine bit-by-bit the important aspects that may shape its progress and provide a rough projection of how it will fare vis-à-vis its previous year’s performance and versus the rest of the league.

Wes Unseld Jr.

Headliners:

When fully healthy, which they are right now, the Washington Wizards can be a competitive team. The problem, however, is that their key players seem to have difficulties staying healthy. Their latest high-profile acquisition, Kristaps Porzingis, only adds to this unsavory reputation.

Nonetheless, the Wizards will have a collection of savvy veterans and young guns to make this upcoming season quite interesting for their fans. Bradley Beal has committed long-term with Washington and the franchise is now surrounding him with complementary support across all positions.

Last July, Beal signed a five-year $251 million supermax contract extension with a no trade clause. In 40 games, he averaged 23.2 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 6.6 assists for the Wizards last season.

Will Barton and Monte Morris, both acquired from Denver via trade, will most probably form part of the starting perimeter trio alongside Beal, while Kyle Kuzma and Kristaps Porzingis take on frontcourt duties for the Wizards.

Rui Hachimura, Delon Wright, Daniel Gafford, Deni Avdija, and 10th overall pick Johnny Davis out of Wisconsin should shore up Washington’s bench production for the 2022-2023 NBA Season.

Will the Wizards stay healthy and make the already crowded Eastern Conference Playoff Race even more crowded? Let’s hope that they do, as this adds more flavor to the spicy competition that awaits the fans.
